The trip starts at the moon - like landscape of the 10,000 foot high summit of Haleakala crater, and continues down through pine and eucalyptus forests to green pastures, ranchlands and varied lifestyles of Upcountry Maui.

On a clear day, six islands - Hawaii, Molokini, Kaho'olawe, Lanai, Molokai and Oahu can be seen from the summit of Haleakala. The sunrise is is spectacular.

A great variety of unique plants and wildlife are seen during the long downhill coast from the summit to the ocean.
