The Deschutes is Oregon's second longest river, running along the east side of the Cascade Mountains from Diamond Peak to the mighty Columbia River.

Near the source, rafters and kayakers enjoy nine miles of Class I rapids linking Wickiup Dam to Pringle Falls, where all but the most experienced seek portage.






Below the falls, another 16 miles of Class I and II rapids carry you to Big River Campground, and from there another 18 miles of river lead past Sunriver.

Along the way, take out above Benham Falls, a spectacular series of Class V ledges and holes that drop more than 100 feet over a half-mile stretch.

Excursions down Big Eddy, the famous Class IV-stretch of the Deschutes, attracts visitors back summer after summer.
